Moving to Improve Air Quality
The Problem: Emissions from mobile sources make up the largest segment of air pollution in the Denver metropolitan region. As the area continues to grow and thrive, regional partners must work together to find ways to minimize harmful air pollutants from this sector.
The Program: In the most recent executive order, the Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) is now responsible for helping to identify transportation strategies that will reduce air pollution along the Front Range. The RAQC will work with regional partners such as the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and local governments, citizens, businesses and nonprofit organizations to find the most effective ways to reduce air pollution from the transportation sector.
Every Trip Counts
In coordination with the Ozone Aware program, the RAQC will launch a two year pilot Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program in 2010. The program aims to reduce vehicular emissions and vehicle miles traveled. Visit www.everytripcounts.org for more information.
